How to look after metal dice - It's easier than you think!

Metal dice are an absolute joy to own. They have a hefty weight that screams quality and they make you feel powerful just by rolling them. That said, they're pricier than their acrylic and resin counterparts. So owning some feel a bit riskier investment.

Fear not though, we at DiceRoll UK will run you through the basics of ownership!

How to best store Metal Dice

Storing dice properly is the best (and easiest) way to prevent unwanted damage and dirt. After all, it's harder to damage something when it's protected by a bag or container. We highly recommend a container with pre-cut gaps over just tossing them in a bag. This ensures that the dice aren't smashing against each other, causing scratches!

If you don't yet have a tin for storage, a bag will do. Though do try avoid mixing Metal Dice with Acrylic/Resin or Gemstone Dice. A dice folder makes a pretty good option if you use multiple sets.

How to clean Metal Dice

Over years of use, dice will inevitably get dirty. It happens. The best way to clean them up is with the use of Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA). Simply dab a cloth into some IPA and wipe away the dirt and grime.

If you have particularly detailed dice with lots of fine crevices, a cotton swab can come in handy. Hollowed Dice can also be cleaned using an IPA soaked swab. If the dice is proving tricky to clean, you can fill an old takeaway container with IPA and let the dice soak for a few hours.

Be Kind. Use a mat.

One thing to always keep in mind is that Metal Dice are heavy and sometimes sharp. Because of this, they can cause damage to the surface you are playing on. Use a dice mat or a dice tray wherever possible to prevent accidental damage.
